Born in 1987 in Poland, Artur Grucela is a figurative painter whose work is characterized by naturalistic and dreamlike landscapes, populated by often solitary male figures captured in moments of silent introspection. His paintings, created primarily in oil on canvas, bring to life fictional landscapes that blur the line between the everyday and the imaginary, exploring themes such as escape, melancholy, and the desire to connect with nature.

Raised in a small town in the mountainous south of Poland, he now lives and works in Wrocław. His artistic practice has developed outside traditional academic structures, nourished by an intimate relationship with nature. Largely self-taught, Grucela frequently incorporates themes drawn from myths, allegories, and biblical symbolism into his work, while also drawing inspiration from art history, film noir, and classical literature. His compositions are influenced by Romantic painting, the Flemish masters, and classical traditions; through subtle colors, stylized landscapes, and dramatic lighting, he creates paintings that are both timeless and cinematic.

In particular, he exhibited twice with Miligram, a collective of young artists from Wrocław—first at the “Represent” exhibition in 2009, then at “Dzika Banda” (The Wild Horde) in Warsaw the following year. After the collective disbanded, he joined POCO, the Pop & Contemporary Art Museum founded in Tallinn.
