    GAO LEI

    Gao Lei belongs to the Post-80s generation which is more used to the global information society’s diversity in values rather than ideology, and individualistic reasoning. Through his works of paintings, photography, installation and mixed media, the artist freely traverses across the boundaries of virtual world and reality, creating a new site of communication and mechanism of criticism. Through non-personified approaches, he also explores how the system of power characterizes the individual way of thinking and regulates the social environment.

    Gao Lei was born in Changsha (China) in 1980. He graduated from the Central Academy of Fine Arts in Beijing in 2001, concluding his studies with an MA from the Digital Media department in 2006. He currently lives and works in Beijing.
