    Cai Lei est en recherche constante sur les notions d’espace et de vide, ses œuvres se placent à mi-chemin entre la peinture et l’installation. Fragiles et intimistes, elles explorent la notion géométrique du volume avec poésie.

    L’artiste est devenu célèbre pour ses sculptures hyperréalistes en cuir et résine visant à capturer la véritable essence du corps humain, libéré de tout artifice, la beauté excentrique ne pouvant selon lui être dissociée de la splendeur parfois brutale de la réalité.

    Cai Lei est né en 1983 à Cangchun, Jilin province, Chine. Il vit et travaille à Pékin.
